Second-year medical student: Swikriti Shahi

"I want to become a doctor because I know the situation of my people in Dolpo and want to bring about an improvement."

Swikriti Shahi has been confronted with the lack of medical care in Dolpo since early childhood. Her mother has suffered from massive health problems since becoming pregnant with her younger brother in the early 2000s. Her brother is also still struggling with the serious consequences of inadequate and incorrect treatment at Dunai Hospital.

Swikriti's heartfelt wish is to be able to offer the population sound medical care as a doctor in Dolpo.

DolpoCare has been financing the university since summer 2019 and the university for Swikriti, who is now studying medicine, since 2023.

The costs for medical studies (basic studies and later studies to become a specialist) amount to around CHF 40,000.
